APT Closed Tonight: Disco 3000 Moved to Le Poisson Rouge

APT is closed tonight, so Disco 3000 with Trus'me and special guest Qool Marv has been moved to the Gallery Bar of Le Poisson Rouge. No cover!

Trus'me spun a great set back when he was last here in March (and also when he was at Le Souk in October & at the Yard last summer).

Expect to hear all corners of the record shop - from the past, present and of course the future...disco, afro, house, boogie, hip hop, techno, jazz, psyche, reggae, soul, brazilian, dub...

Été d'Amour Returns To New York!

Last year some of the awesome Respect crew came from Paris to New York to organize Été d'Amour...a great weekly dance party that happened Thursday nights at Santos (plus a few special events here & there). The line-ups were great and they were some of the funnest parties I went to all summer (which included Pharrell (Fluo Kids), 33Hz, and Alan Braxe at Santos, Busy P & Dj Mehdi at Santos,and Holy Ghost, Feadz, & Stretch Armstrong at the Yard)

Ironically, one of the few times I checked my email while I was in Paris earlier this month I saw a Facebook invite from Été d'Amour for their New York premiere...at the Rivington Hotel Penthouse...with Dimitri from Paris!

I love Dimitri from Paris. I first saw him back in 2004 at Crobar (yes, Crobar) and his set was awesome (and to add to the irony...I met the friend who I was visiting Paris with, at that party!). The Rivington Hotel is amazing and Été d'Amour have gone and combined the two, but better still! this party is not just a one time event, but a regular, weekly party just like last summer...with similarly great line-ups! Full info on the first party with Dimitri from Paris (happening this Sunday, May 31) below, along with the rest of the Été d'Amour parties that have been announced so far.

Fatboy Slim to Deejay Terminal 5!!!!!

Yessssss!!!

I have been waiting 4 years for Fatboy Slim to come back to New York and he finally is!

June 24 (Wednesday) at Terminal 5 (I am not even going to bitch about the venue)! There's a pre-sale tomorrow at 11am (I don't know the password). Tickets go on sale Friday (5/15) at noon. Shinichi Osawa is opening.


If you made a little chart of how I started listening to dance music it would go something like Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Fatboy Slim. In the early days I had Big Beach Boutique II and Live on Brighton Beach on all the time.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Fatboy deejay twice. The first was at the "Funeral" (closing) of Centro-fly, back in April of '04. There was a band playing "Taps", leading a funeral procession complete with a coffin, through the crowd, across the dancefloor. They opened it in front of the booth...and Fatboy hopped out!

He plays great, fun sets...and is a super animated deejay. He dances and hops around the booth like crazy (check the video from Centro-fly's closing below) and writes notes to the crowd on his record sleeves.



This is going to be such a good time. He's the first deejay who made me realize you can drop whatever the hell you want if you're doing a good job (like the Bangles' "Walk Like an Egyptian") and people will freak the fuck out...get ready!
